Thornhill Meditation & Yin Yoga (meditation for mindful living) was founded in 2007 and is operated by Karen Kofman. It is located in Thornhill, Ontario.
Karen has been certified in Meditation instruction (samatha and vipassana) by Bangkok Natural Healing Academy. In the winters of 2016, 2017 and 2018, Karen travelled to Thailand to study with monks and master teachers.
Karen teaches meditation individually in addition to teaching and introduction courses several times a year.
In January, 2013, Karen achieved certification in Hot Yoga. In November, 2014, she became certified in Yin Yoga as a student of Tracy Soghrati. Since the Fall of 2015, Karen has continued her yoga teacher training under the guidance of Galina Silberberg.
Weekly Yin Yoga classes are offered at Karen’s home studio in Thornhill, These classes are infused with meditation and mindfulness teachings in order for the student to bring awareness to each posture and to gain skills to become more calm and relaxed in both mind and body.
Karen has also taught in corporate settings, as well as for the Toronto Board of Education.(grades 9 – 12) Workshops are offered free of charge to non-profit organizations.
